Don’t you just hate it when you get home, take your coat off and suddenly realize that you forgot to get something from the store? Or when you get out of the office, get into your car, and just when you’re about to turn on the ignition, you remember that you had to send a report to a colleague. The Synergy.com-developed application TaskPrompt is here to ensure that accidents like this do not happen anymore. It will remind you about the tasks that you need to do.

At 1.3Mb, the TaskPrompt download is quite lightweight; and that is good as it means it will take very little time to get TaskPrompt off the web and onto your computer. You will spend little time on installing the application as well. All you have to do is follow some simple steps a setup wizard presents to you.

The TaskPrompt interface is simple and intuitive, to the left you have options on how to view your reminders and to-dos, in a big window in the middle you have a list of all your to-dos, and to the right you have a quick preview of a selected to-do. To create a to-do you need only to select the “Add” button, type in some details about that to-do (due date, alarm date, notes, snooze settings) and you’re done. TaskPrompt will inform you about that to-do at the time you specified. You can set up reoccurring tasks as well, from tasks that reoccur every minute to tasks that reoccur every year.

To make sure that TaskPrompt will do its job and will inform you about your tasks and to-dos, you can set it up from the Options menu so that it will automatically launch at startup. From the same Options menu you can set it up so that when you exit TaskPrompt, the application is minimized to the system tray; this will ensure that you don’t accidentally close the application.

TaskPrompt will do its job for as long as it is installed on your Windows-powered machine. You can keep it on your machine for as long as you want and use it free of charge.

It’s hard to keep track of all your tasks and to-dos, so let the easy to use and free task reminder TaskPrompt lend a helping hand.

Pros

The interface is easy to figure out. You can set up to-dos and reoccurring tasks and TaskPrompt will notify you about them. From the Options menu you can set it up so that TaskPrompt runs at startup and so that it is minimized to the system tray. TaskPrompt is free.

Cons

The interface is a bit dated.
